Hello! My name is Dana and I am the Maker behind Dane Jane Designs!
Books have always been a large part of my life. I remember many summers as a child hanging out at the local library pouring over books. I would bounce from reading Beatrix Potter to Roald Dahl to Beverly Cleary. I loved poetry and science fiction. I tried desperately to get through The Hobbit and although it took a couple of tries, I finally did it! One of my favourite gifts ever was a Christmas present from my Grandmother. It was wrapped in shiny gold paper and inside was the complete Anne of Green Gables series. I was in love! I've been an avid reader ever since.
Aside from reading, my other passion since childhood has always been creating. I loved Home Economics when they taught us to bake and I loved Shop Class when we got to use all the tools. I was excited to use different mediums and different techniques to create beautiful works of art. Funny enough, the one thing I never took to was sewing. I would try it repeatedly over the years and quit in frustration whenever things didn't work out the way I thought they should. It wasn't until I was gifted a sewing machine as an adult, from that same Grandmother, that I finally appreciated the art of sewing. I am especially obsessed with the beauty of all of the fabric patterns that are available. They are works of art all on their own.
At Dane Jane Designs, I create pieces that bring all of this together...the love of reading, creating and beautiful materials. Each piece is handmade by me using high quality, designer, 100% cotton fabric that are available in a wide range of fun, colourful and stylish patterns to truly represent a reader's style and personality.
